Advisory fuel rates from 1 September 2024

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has released the advisory fuel rates to be used from 1 September 2024. You can use the previous rates for up to one month after the new rates apply.

Engine sizePetrol — rate per mileLPG — rate per mile
1400cc or less13 pence11 pence
1401cc to 2000cc13 pence
Over 2000cc24 pence21 pence

Hybrid cars should be treated as petrol or diesel for the purposes of these rates.

1600cc or less12 pence
1601cc to 2000cc14 pence
Over 2000cc18 pence

The fully electric car advisory rate is 7 pence per mile. This will also be reviewed quarterly along with the other rates.

The next advisory fuel rate release date is expected at the end of November, ready for the 1 December.
